Burbank Plum trees are a well-producing cultivar that will usually start to bear fruits in 2-3 years. It needs cross pollination from different Japanese plum cultivars in order to fruit. It can be used as a landscape flowering tree in spring or a shade tree in summer. Once ripe, the plums are a beautiful rounded fruit with red to purple skin and an amber yellow flesh. It can be eaten fresh of used for canning. The Burbank Plum tree requires 600 chill hours and is resistant to leaf scale. It can grow to a mature height of 20 to 30 feet. The Burbank plum is hardy in USDA Zones 5-9.
